How does unlimited data work?
Every unlimited plan includes the full-speed allowance shown on its card — either an amount per day that refills every 24 hours (counted from your first use), or one total amount you can use on any day of your trip.
Once the full-speed allowance is used up, you stay connected with unlimited data at the reduced speed shown — no cut-off in normal use and no extra charges.
As a rough guide: 1.25 Mbps is usually enough for messaging, maps, social feeds, music and video calls, while 2 Mbps can also handle standard-quality video streaming.
Within your full-speed allowance your data is not slowed down — you get up to 5G/4G speeds wherever the local network offers them.

5G availableCarriers operating here. Your eSIM is assigned an available partner network automatically — you can't pick the carrier, and not every network listed is reachable on every eSIM.
Real-world speed and coverage depend on your exact location, your device, and how busy the network is. Rural and remote areas may be slower or 4G-only.

Heading to Vietnam? A Vietnam eSIM gives you prepaid mobile data from the moment you arrive — no roaming bill shock and no hunting for a local SIM card. Install your alodata eSIM before you travel, switch it on when you land, and stay online for maps, rides, bookings, and keeping in touch.
In Vietnam, the mobile market is served by established local carriers (Viettel, Mobifone, Vietnam Telecom Services Company, Vietnamobile). Your eSIM roams onto an available partner network automatically — which carrier that is depends on the profile assigned to your eSIM and can't be chosen.

Coverage and networks in Vietnam
Your Vietnam eSIM roams on trusted local networks with fast 5G/4G data. Every plan states its exact deal — a set data amount at full speed, or unlimited data with a stated full-speed allowance — and you can track your remaining data in real time from your account, so there are no surprises mid-trip.
Fast, inexpensive 4G blankets the cities, the length of the coast and virtually all the main tourist routes, with 5G now expanding across Hanoi, Da Nang and Ho Chi Minh City. Vietnam is one of the better-value countries in the region for mobile data, and coverage only really thins once you climb into the northern mountains, the karst backcountry and the more remote stretches of the highlands.
Getting connected in Vietnam
Vietnam now enforces passport registration and has cancelled millions of unregistered SIMs, so where you buy really matters: an official Viettel, Vinaphone or Mobifone store will register the SIM to your passport properly, whereas a street vendor or airport tout may sell you one tied to someone else's ID that stops working within days. Tourist data packs are cheap once activated, but a travel eSIM skips the registration step and the risk of a dead card entirely, and is online the moment you land.
The internet is mostly open and the apps travelers use — maps, Grab, messaging and social — work normally, but Vietnam operates a firewall that periodically slows or restricts Facebook and some services, and content laws can see the odd site blocked. A roaming eSIM that routes abroad rides over most of that filtering, so if keeping Facebook, Messenger or a particular app reliably available matters to you, it is the steadier choice over a local SIM.
On the northern mountain loops around Ha Giang and Cao Bang, the Ha Long Bay and Lan Ha Bay boat routes, and the remoter Mekong channels, coverage narrows to the towns and the main roads and can drop out on the passes and the water. Download offline maps and your route before a motorbike loop or an overnight cruise, and don't count on a live signal between villages.
The SIM stalls in the arrivals halls at Hanoi, Da Nang and Ho Chi Minh City are convenient but sit past immigration and baggage claim, run tourist-priced bundles and still need your passport for registration in another queue. A data eSIM activated before you fly lets you walk straight out to a Grab or an official taxi already online, with your hotel and map loaded and no counter to visit at the end of the flight.
Who these Vietnam eSIM plans are for
They suit short trips and longer stays alike: tourists who want maps and messaging, digital nomads working remotely, and business travelers who need reliable data on arrival. Keep your home number active on your primary SIM while alodata handles data.
Viettel has by far the widest rural and mountain footprint, which makes it the safest choice if your trip runs to the far north around Ha Giang and Sapa, the central highlands or deep into the Mekong Delta, where the smaller networks fade out. For a Hanoi, Hoi An and Ho Chi Minh City route any network is quick and cheap, so choose on data and price.
