eSIM device compatibility

eSIM works on most phones, tablets, and smartwatches released since around 2018 — as long as the device is carrier-unlocked. Note that alodata plans are designed for phones, tablets, and laptops, not standalone smartwatches. Here's how to check your device and which popular models support it.
The short version
If your phone was released since about 2018 and is carrier-unlocked, it almost certainly supports eSIM. Dial *#06# — if you see an EID number, you are good to go.
How to check your device in 30 seconds
- Dial *#06# and look for an EID number alongside the IMEI — an EID means eSIM support.
- Open Settings and look for Add eSIM or Add mobile plan.
- Confirm the phone is carrier-unlocked — locked phones cannot load another provider's eSIM.

Google Pixel 3 and newer; Samsung Galaxy S20 and newer, plus recent Note, Z Fold, and Z Flip models; and many recent Motorola, Huawei, Oppo, and Sony phones. Availability can vary by region and model variant, so check *#06# to be sure.
Common mistakes
- Assuming a locked phone will work — carrier-locked devices cannot load an eSIM.
- Checking the model name only — variants differ by region, so confirm with *#06#.
- Overlooking that some US iPhones (14 and later) are eSIM-only, with no physical SIM tray.
