eSIM device compatibility
eSIM works on most phones, tablets, and smartwatches released since around 2018 — as long as the device is carrier-unlocked. Here's how to check yours and which popular models support it.
How to check your device
The quickest test: dial *#06# on your phone. If an 'EID' number appears alongside the IMEI, your device supports eSIM. You can also look under Settings for an 'Add eSIM' or 'Add mobile plan' option. Your device must also be unlocked — a phone locked to a carrier can't load another provider's eSIM.
Apple
iPhone XS, XR, and all newer models (iPhone SE 2020 and later included); most cellular iPads from 2018 onward; and Apple Watch Series 3 and later with cellular. In the US, iPhone 14 and later are eSIM-only.
Android
Google Pixel 3 and newer; Samsung Galaxy S20 and newer, plus recent Note, Z Fold, and Z Flip models; and many recent Motorola, Huawei, Oppo, and Sony phones. Availability can vary by region and model variant, so check *#06# to be sure.
