Networks in United Arab Emirates
5G availableYour eSIM connects automatically to these local carriers — there's nothing to choose.
Real-world speed and coverage depend on your exact location, your device, and how busy the network is. Rural and remote areas may be slower or 4G-only.
Will your phone work?
Check eSIM support in two seconds — before you buy.
Dial *#06# on your phone. If an “EID” number appears, it's eSIM-ready. You can also look for “Add eSIM” or “Add mobile plan” in your Settings.
Haven't installed it yet? Unactivated eSIMs are fully refundable within 30 days. And if it won't install on a compatible, unlocked phone, contact us and we'll make it right.

Heading to United Arab Emirates? A United Arab Emirates eSIM gives you prepaid mobile data from the moment you arrive — no roaming bill shock and no hunting for a local SIM card. Install your alodata eSIM before you travel, switch it on when you land, and stay online for maps, rides, bookings, and keeping in touch.
In United Arab Emirates, your eSIM connects to established local networks (Etisalat UAE, Du), so coverage is the same you'd get from a local carrier.

Coverage and networks in United Arab Emirates
Your United Arab Emirates eSIM roams on trusted networks and delivers high-speed data with no throttling on standard plans. You can track your remaining data in real time from your account, so there are no surprises mid-trip.
Coverage is excellent across Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Sharjah and the main highways linking them, with some of the widest 5G in the region, so you'll have fast data across the malls, the metro, the corniches and the tourist strips. It thins only once you leave the built-up coast: on desert safaris out toward the Empty Quarter fringe and on the mountain roads climbing to Jebel Jais and Hatta, coverage concentrates around towns, resorts and the main routes and can drop away between them, so download your pin locations before an off-road dune drive or an overnight desert camp.
Getting connected in United Arab Emirates
Tourist SIMs from du or e& (formerly Etisalat) need your passport and are sold at Dubai and Abu Dhabi airports, in the big malls and at carrier shops, but they are priced well above a travel eSIM and the counters can involve a wait and formal ID capture. More importantly, a local SIM won't restore the calling apps most visitors actually want, so many travelers set up an eSIM before arrival instead of queuing on landing, then keep it as their main line for the whole trip.
This is the detail that catches people out: the UAE blocks voice and video calls on WhatsApp, FaceTime, Messenger and similar apps over local networks, so a SIM bought on arrival simply cannot make those calls without a licensed paid service. A travel eSIM that routes your traffic through its overseas home network typically keeps WhatsApp and FaceTime calling working normally — but it has to be active before you land, because setting one up is far harder once the block is already in force.
Free airport Wi-Fi at Dubai and Abu Dhabi covers the gap while you land, but it won't carry your WhatsApp or FaceTime calls out through the VoIP block — so the smart move is to have a calling-capable eSIM already active before you step off the plane, rather than queuing at an arrivals SIM counter for a line that still can't make those calls.
Who these United Arab Emirates eSIM plans are for
They suit short trips and longer stays alike: tourists who want maps and messaging, digital nomads working remotely, and business travelers who need reliable data on arrival. Keep your home number active on your primary SIM while alodata handles data.
If keeping WhatsApp or FaceTime calling matters for your trip — and for most visitors it does — set up and test your eSIM before departure rather than relying on a local SIM, which by design cannot place those calls. Keep the eSIM as your data and calling line, leave your home SIM in for bank verification texts, and you'll land already able to call home and book rides without touching an arrivals counter.
