Networks in Chile
5G availableYour eSIM connects automatically to these local carriers — there's nothing to choose.
Real-world speed and coverage depend on your exact location, your device, and how busy the network is. Rural and remote areas may be slower or 4G-only.
Will your phone work?
Check eSIM support in two seconds — before you buy.
Dial *#06# on your phone. If an “EID” number appears, it's eSIM-ready. You can also look for “Add eSIM” or “Add mobile plan” in your Settings.
Haven't installed it yet? Unactivated eSIMs are fully refundable within 30 days. And if it won't install on a compatible, unlocked phone, contact us and we'll make it right.

Heading to Chile? A Chile eSIM gives you prepaid mobile data from the moment you arrive — no roaming bill shock and no hunting for a local SIM card. Install your alodata eSIM before you travel, switch it on when you land, and stay online for maps, rides, bookings, and keeping in touch.
In Chile, your eSIM connects to established local networks (WOM, Movistar Chile), so coverage is the same you'd get from a local carrier.

Coverage and networks in Chile
Your Chile eSIM roams on trusted networks and delivers high-speed data with no throttling on standard plans. You can track your remaining data in real time from your account, so there are no surprises mid-trip.
Coverage is among the region's best along the populated central valley from La Serena to Concepción, with mature 5G in Santiago and the main cities and reliable 4G down the main highways. The extremes are where it thins: the high Atacama, the altiplano and the fjords, glaciers and empty stretches of deep Patagonia see the network narrow to the towns and the main roads.
Getting connected in Chile
Prepaid SIMs from Entel, Movistar or WOM are sold with a passport at Santiago airport and in shops, and registration is quick, though top-up sometimes wants a local card and the menus are Spanish-only. Chile is one of the more straightforward South American countries for a local SIM, but on a fast-moving itinerary — the Atacama one day, Patagonia the next — a travel eSIM that's online from touchdown saves the counter stop and works the same the length of this very long country.
Chile's internet is fully open with no content filtering, so every app, map and messaging service works normally without a VPN, and connectivity in the cities is among the best in the region. For a visitor the only real variable is geography — the country stretches from the driest desert on earth to Antarctic-facing glaciers — so it's coverage, not access, that changes as you travel north or south.
In the Atacama and across deep Patagonia, coverage follows the main roads and towns and disappears between them, so expect long dark stretches on the Carretera Austral, around Torres del Paine and out on the altiplano. Download offline maps and your bookings before you set out, and treat a signal in the wilderness as a bonus rather than something to count on.
Santiago's airport has SIM counters, but they sit past immigration and baggage claim and charge tourist rates, and a local top-up can want a Chilean card. An eSIM installed before you fly means you clear the airport already online, ready to book a transfer or a rental car and check your onward domestic flight to the desert or the far south.
Who these Chile eSIM plans are for
They suit short trips and longer stays alike: tourists who want maps and messaging, digital nomads working remotely, and business travelers who need reliable data on arrival. Keep your home number active on your primary SIM while alodata handles data.
Entel reaches furthest into the Atacama desert in the north and deep into Patagonia in the south, so favour it if your trip runs to the remote extremes — the altiplano, San Pedro de Atacama, Torres del Paine or the Carretera Austral. For Santiago, Valparaíso and the central valley any network is fast and reliable, so there you can simply choose on data and price.
