Networks in Azerbaijan
5G availableYour eSIM connects automatically to these local carriers — there's nothing to choose.
Real-world speed and coverage depend on your exact location, your device, and how busy the network is. Rural and remote areas may be slower or 4G-only.
Will your phone work?
Check eSIM support in two seconds — before you buy.
Dial *#06# on your phone. If an “EID” number appears, it's eSIM-ready. You can also look for “Add eSIM” or “Add mobile plan” in your Settings.
Haven't installed it yet? Unactivated eSIMs are fully refundable within 30 days. And if it won't install on a compatible, unlocked phone, contact us and we'll make it right.

Heading to Azerbaijan? A Azerbaijan eSIM gives you prepaid mobile data from the moment you arrive — no roaming bill shock and no hunting for a local SIM card. Install your alodata eSIM before you travel, switch it on when you land, and stay online for maps, rides, bookings, and keeping in touch.
In Azerbaijan, your eSIM connects to established local networks (Bakcell, Azercell), so coverage is the same you'd get from a local carrier.

Coverage and networks in Azerbaijan
Your Azerbaijan eSIM roams on trusted networks and delivers high-speed data with no throttling on standard plans. You can track your remaining data in real time from your account, so there are no surprises mid-trip.
Azercell and Bakcell cover Baku, the Absheron peninsula and the main towns well, with 4G across the populated areas and 5G emerging in the capital. Coverage thins across the mountainous north toward the Caucasus and Sheki, and in the remote border regions, where the network follows the valley roads and the towns rather than the high country.
Getting connected in Azerbaijan
Tourist SIMs from Azercell, Bakcell or Nar need passport registration, and there's a bigger catch for visitors: Azerbaijan requires foreign phones to have their IMEI registered, and a fee paid, within about 30 days, after which an unregistered handset is blocked from the local networks. A roaming eSIM avoids both the SIM registration and the IMEI clock entirely, so your phone keeps working for a short trip without any paperwork or the risk of being cut off partway through your visit.
Azerbaijan's internet is mostly open for everyday use, but the authorities periodically restrict some social and messaging platforms, particularly around elections or periods of tension, so access isn't guaranteed to be untouched. A roaming eSIM that routes abroad rides over most of that local filtering, so if you rely on a particular app to stay in touch, it's the steadier choice over a local SIM.
In the mountainous north around Sheki, Gabala and the high Caucasus villages, and in the remote border regions, coverage narrows to the valley roads and towns and drops out on the passes and trails. Download offline maps before a mountain drive, and treat a signal in the high villages as a bonus rather than something to count on. Back in Baku and the main towns, fast data resumes the moment you return, so the offline stretches are only ever out in the high country.
Baku's Heydar Aliyev airport has SIM counters, but they sit past immigration, and buying a local SIM means the roughly 30-day IMEI clock starts ticking on your phone. An eSIM installed before you fly means you clear the airport already online, with no registration, no IMEI worry and a ride into the city ready to book straight away.
Who these Azerbaijan eSIM plans are for
They suit short trips and longer stays alike: tourists who want maps and messaging, digital nomads working remotely, and business travelers who need reliable data on arrival. Keep your home number active on your primary SIM while alodata handles data.
Azercell has the widest national coverage and is the most reliable for trips beyond Baku — to Sheki, Gabala, the Absheron peninsula or the mountain regions — where the smaller networks fade out. In Baku itself any network is fast and fine, so choose on data and price, and favour Azercell if your itinerary heads out into the countryside or the north.
