How to top up your eSIM

Last updated: July 13, 2026

Running low on data? You don't need to reinstall anything. Depending on your plan you can either add data to your existing eSIM or buy a fresh plan — whichever is available is shown in your account.

The short version

You do not reinstall anything to add data. Sign in, open your eSIM, and if a top-up is offered, buy more data and it applies to the same eSIM. If not, buy a new plan for the destination.

How to top up, step by step

  1. Sign in to your alodata account and open the eSIM you are using.
  2. If a top-up is offered for that plan, choose a data bundle.
  3. Pay — the extra data is added to the same eSIM automatically, nothing to reinstall.
  4. No top-up option? Buy a fresh plan for the same destination and install it as a second eSIM.

Check your remaining data

Sign in to your alodata account to see how much data and validity you have left in real time. We recommend topping up before you hit zero so you stay connected without a gap.

Tip

Validity counts down whether or not you use all your data, so match the plan length to your trip and top up only when you need more.

Common mistakes

  • Waiting until you hit zero — top up before you run out so you never lose connection.
  • Deleting the eSIM to add data — you never need to reinstall to top up.
  • Forgetting that validity still counts down even when you have data left.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need to reinstall my eSIM to add data?

No. If a top-up is available for your plan, the extra data applies to the same eSIM automatically — nothing to reinstall.

What if my plan cannot be topped up?

Simply buy a new plan for the same destination and install it as a second eSIM. Your phone can store several.

Does unused data carry over when I top up?

Top-ups add data and can extend validity, but any data past the validity period expires. Top up before your current plan runs out to avoid a gap.
